Kids in the Kitchen

Too often I find myself in a huge hurry in the kitchen… so much so that I don’t let my kids help out. As a matter of fact, I’d much rather they were busy with something else while I’m making dinner- it goes quicker that way!

But I’d really like for my kids to be learning about cooking, I think it’s as important for my sons as for my daughter. So, I’ve started taking time on weekends and less hectic evenings to let them help. Buttering bread, toasting waffles, putting smoothie ingredients into the blender… so far so good!

I was thrilled when I visited Kids Cooking Activities, which features cooking lesson plans for kids of all ages. I’ve printed out the Kitchen Safety lesson and plan on pulling it out next time we have time free.
